Hosting a Warhammer Total War 2 campaign coop game is really easy all you need to do is click the campaign button at the menu screen in-game. The Co-Op Experience: Similar to prior Total War games, two players can work together to conquer the game’s campaign mode. The only reason to play 1 by itself is to see if you like the game because it’s cheaper. That unlocks the Mortal Empires campaign in 2 and gets you the races from 1.
If you like the game, you’ll eventually want to own both 1 and 2. It includes all of the factions from Eye of the Vortex as well as all of the factions from Total Warhammer 1. This campaign is called “Mortal Empires”. The second campaign, however, does require that you own Total Warhammer 1 in order to unlock. You do not need Total Warhammer 1 to play this. Do you need total war Warhammer 1 installed to play 2? If you own any WARHAMMER I downloadable content, you will also be able to play as those races in Mortal Empires, with the temporary exception of Norsca. Ownership of both games is required to play the Mortal Empires campaign.
